When I moved my family to Arkansas to pastor a church, I wanted to do something special for the children of our church at Christmas time. Buying gifts for every child was going to be too expensive and the gifts would likely not last long.
I decided to build the kids a handmade toy from scraps of wood. That first toy was very basic but it was a start. They were such a huge hit I decided to build a new toy every year.
My wife and others have encouraged me to begin selling these toys and thus the business was born. A couple of years ago a church member introduced me to pen turning and I was hooked. Most recently I've added duck calls to the collection of items I make.
The shop name came as a result of my relationship with Jesus. Ephesians 2:10 says that we are "His workmanship created in Christ Jesus..." This tells believers that God takes those that the world would consider outcasts and worthless and makes them into beautiful treasures for His glory. That is exactly what happens when I take a scrap block of wood and make it something beautiful and useful!
Spending time in the shop has been a source of therapy and time alone with the Lord. I'm thankful for the opportunity to spend some time each week on something I love doing.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story!
